“All Glory to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen.” -Romans 16:27 NLT
Everything we put our hands to do should be done for the Glory of GOD. But how many times do we seek to bring Glory to ourselves? When you seek to bring Glory to yourself, you are idolizing your image in GOD. We have been commanded not to idolize anything or anyone except GOD because GOD is a jealous GOD. Way too often, we work hard to achieve our heart's desires rather than let GOD’s promise do what it promised to do for us. (Psalm 37:4) to I wonder why this seemingly harmless practice of self-idolatry is not a friend of GOD. Exodus 20:3 has the answer. It says, “You shall have no other gods before Me.”
GOD commanded us not to worship any foreign objects in place of Him. He knew way back in Israel's wilderness days that idolatry and self-idolizing would lead to sin against His perfect plan, purpose, and will for us, His beloved children. Paul knew this, too, because He warned Timothy about it. Paul told Timothy, “But realize this: in the last days, difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
We are living in times like that now. The times when people are self-glamorizing themselves just like the children of Israel did. And GOD is not pleased with it. We call GOD’s name, but we are not giving Him all the Glory. The focus seems to be on wanting people to see us rather than seeing Holy GOD in us. Our main objective should be seeking for GOD’S glorious GLORY to be glorified. His Glory is authoritative, powerful, and worthy of all the Praise, the Honor, and Glory forever.
Remember:
There is never any glory for us to seek because we are not GOD.
Prayer:
Thank you for being our dependable Holy GOD that deserves all Glory, and all the Honor and all the Praise. Hallelujah and Amen, in His Holy, matchless name.
