SUBJECT: “THE POWER OF KINDNESS.”

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them.” Matthew 7:12 ESV

Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you, is not a cliche. These are the words from JESUS’ teaching. We know it as “he “The Golden Rule.” This is one of JESUS’ most powerful teachings. I believe JESUS was setting the foundation for what Apostle Paul would teach in Galatians 6:10. “So then, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Expressing and showing consistent acts of kindness begins with the Body of Christ.

Kindness has a POWER that most people cannot resist. Kindness has the POWER to soften people’s hearts in a contagious way. It is said that a smile is universal. Smiling is merely silently showing kindness. A simple smile and a pleasant hello can go a long way. And don't forget using Kind words to build up a person is the Christian way. Believe it or not, KIND words have been said to make a person’s day. Another thing JESUS could have been thinking about during His lecture is, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what helps build others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29.

The words we choose to use can be a blessing or a curse. As believers, we want to be encouragers instead of discouraging those we come in contact with. The last thing I think JESUS’ could be thinking about for His Christian followers, is that they are the light. We are expected to bring encouraging hope during the dark times to people. No matter what the dark situation might be, we are called to bring hope. Again, Apostle Paul reminds us to “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:2-6.

Question?

When was the last time you were kind to someone in a “just because of” way?

Remember:

LOVE is the fuel that POWERS up KINDNESS.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly FATHER,

Thank you, FATHER, for your kindness and love that never stops giving. Empower us, Holy Spirit, to improve our kindness and love for one another. -Amen, in JESUS' name.

Even give thanks in anguish and affliction when you are feeling alone especially on a man-made holiday that's supposed to make you feel like you are supposed to be with loved ones and nobody has time for you
