SUBJECT: “PALM SUNDAY & HOLY WEEK IN THE LENTEN SEASON”

“Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 AMP

EASTER-RESURRECTION is more than one day. It is a season of 40 days to read, study, and learn about the courageous life that JESUS lived boldly. JESUS’ Ministry has a backdrop of divine encounters, supernatural healings, and prolific life-changing sermons. All of which you can learn about in 40 days if you enroll in the cost-free, self-study program, in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The last 33 days of this Lenten Season have brought us to Palm Sunday, which sets off Holy Week. Palm Sunday activates JESUS’ last days before being crucified on an old wooden cross.


''Palm Sunday is when Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem. It was JESUS’ prophesied time to enter the Holy City like the King, without royal clothes or riding in a royal chariot. Nevertheless, the Bible says…”He had a triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and the people praised and worshipped Him with shouts of “Hosanna.” (Matthew 21:9) Then comes Holy Week, which leads through the Last Supper and His crucifixion and ends on Easter-Resurrection Sunday.

 

8-DAY HOLY WEEK DEVOTIONAL


  • PALM SUNDAY: JESUS’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem

    • Read: Matthew 21:1-11 & John 12:27-36

  • HOLY MONDAY: Mary anoints JESUS' feet with perfume

    • Read: Matthew 26: 6-13 & Luke 7:36-50

  • HOLY TUESDAY: JESUS announces the betrayal and denial of Peter

    • Read: John 13:21-38

  • HOLY WEDNESDAY: Judas Iscariot betrays JESUS to the Sanhedrin

    • Read: Matthew 26:14-26

  • HOLY THURSDAY: JESUS had Passover with disciples and gave new meaning to the meal.

    • Read: Mark 14:12-26

  • GOOD HOLY FRIDAY: Passion and death of our LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST

    • Read: John 19:17-42.

  • HOLY SATURDAY JESUS descends into hell and triumphs over death

    • Read: Acts 2:29-33, Ephesians 4:8-10, 1 Peter 4:6, & 1 Peter 3:18-20

  • EASTER-RESURRECTION SUNDAY: JESUS has triumphed over death. Truly, He is risen! Hallelujah!

    • Read: Luke 24:1-12

 

Remember:

Jesus’ sacrifice launched the New Covenant GOD promised, which was prophesied throughout the Old Testament. The New Testament brought it all to fruition. Hallelujah and amen.


Prayer:

Thank you, Great Heavenly FATHER, for your only son being the spotless sacrificial lamb worthy to be slaughtered for our sinful lives to have eternal life. May we never forget that JESUS paid it all. - In His Holy name, Amen.
